MINN FELLOWSHIP 2025-2026 OVERVIEW
The MINN Fellowship follows a model consisting of three main components: monthly meetings, a "Big Challenge" project, and mentorship. The overall goal is to challenge fellows on five specific goals each month: fostering diverse viewpoints, professional enrichment, networking, relationship building, and elevating voices/sharing the microphones.
MONTHLY MEETINGS AND WORKSHOPS
Fellows meet in person each month to reflect, exchange ideas, and participate in a series of
leadership workshops. These workshops focus on core competencies necessary for effective leadership, including:
Ethics - Ethical Grounding and Cultural Competence
Management - Resilience, Adaptability and Project Management
Funding - Fundraising and Resource Mobilization
Communication - Diplomacy and Negotiation
Data - Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
Strategy - Strategic Thinking, Presentation Skills, and Vision

THE "BIG CHALLENGE" PROJECT
Each fellow takes on a Big Challenge, a self-directed project, tackling a real-world issue they care about. It’s a chance to transform passion into action, experiment with solutions, and drive change. Fellows receive up to $200 to support professional development and project expenses. The experience concludes with “Big Challenge” presentations at the graduation event.
MENTORSHIP AND NETWORKING
Fellows are paired with mentors who provide career guidance, feedback, and encouragement through regular check-ins. The program also emphasizes networking, learning from diverse perspectives, and building long-lasting relationships.

2025-2026 TIMELINE OVERVIEW
The fellowship is a nine-month program running from October to June. In-person meetings will be held on the last Thursday of every month from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at a partner location.
October (Commencement): Kick-off and Program Overview; fellows meet MINN network.
November-March: Dedicated monthly workshops, working on projects, and building community.
April-May: Focus shifts to final polish, strategic thinking, peer review, and preparing for the final presentations.
June (Graduation): Final Event featuring “Big Challenge" presentations and a celebration.

The fellowship is designed for early to mid-career professionals who are interested in international development, global cooperation, or social impact work. Applicants should be based in the Minnesota Twin-Cities Metro area and eager to grow as leaders while contributing to community impact.

No. While many fellows have some professional or academic background in global development, nonprofit work, or related fields, the program welcomes individuals from diverse career paths who are committed to leadership growth and global engagement.

Fellows can expect to dedicate about 4–7 hours per month. This includes monthly workshops, mentorship sessions, community project work, and networking opportunities.

The program uses an in-person model. Workshops will be in person (in the Twin Cities). Fellows will be notified of the location in advance and can look at the schedule in the fellows website page for dates.

Two fellows are paired with a mentorship group that includes two experienced professional mentors who provide “big challenge” coaching, career guidance, and support. The group of four participates in a mentorship group for shared learning and encouragement.

The project is an opportunity for fellows to apply their skills to a real-world initiative that supports equity, collaboration, addresses a current issue, and impact within the MINN network or a partner organization.

The fellowship is designed to be accessible so there is no cost to join. However, fellows are expected to cover their own transportation costs.

The program typically selects a cohort (around 8–10 fellows) to ensure a strong, connected community and personalized mentorship experience.
