Tractors for Africa

Africa has roughly 60% of the world’s uncultivated arable land. On the land that is being used, outdated technologies mean that productivity is low. The majority of African farmers still till their soil by hand. Yields can be as much as 80% lower than US levels by comparison. This contributes to food insecurity for millions of people across the continent. Tractors for Africa’s mission is to increase yields and living standards for farmers. We find secondhand tractors and attachments that are too small for American farms, refurbish them, and ship them to farming cooperatives in West Africa. On the ground we provide training in equipment use and maintenance, business management, and agronomy to help increase yields.
