Midwest International NGO Network has filed its paper work to become a 501(c)3 with the IRS. The decision was made late last year year by the Steering Committee to file for the 501(c)3 status in order to better position MINN for the future. This effort was led by a three person team of Ken Schamberger, Paul Hanscom and Karen Baumgaertner. MINN was also fortunate to receive pro-bono legal assistance from Robert Stuart and his colleague Jessica Manivasager from Fredrikson and Byron, P.A.. So what will this mean for other MINN members? Tax deductions for donations will be main thing once
At their last event, MINN members braved ice and snow to gather with friends and colleagues over a hearty, Mideast inspired lunch. A group of 26 came together at Holy Land Restaurant in Northeast Minneapolis to share stories and catch up with one another.
These lunchtime gatherings provide an opportunity for NGO professionals from dozens of organizations to share best practices. Every meeting provides an incredible display of the talent and dedication found right here in the Twin Cities for causes that reach every corner of the globe.
MINN PRESENTS: Monitoring and Evaluation 101
Wednesday, November 17th, 2010
This is a unique opportunity for NGO professionals, and those interested in international development work, to attend a presentation on the fundamental components of effective program evaluation. The presentation explores the “Top 10 reasons you might use evaluation…” and how your organization may begin developing or improving your evaluation practices. Join us as we learn from a professional program evaluator through the use of best practices.
Join your colleagues from across the region to share and explore current evaluation practices and innovative approaches. This program is a joint effort of the Minnesota Council on Foundations, The Minnesota Evaluation Association and the Midwest International NGO Network.
A roundtable forum was held on April 28, 2009 to have a conversation about best practices for communicating with international partners. Many great tips and tools were shared - and this is my attempt to document and share this information.
