Join MINN for a Talk and Tour of COFHED to get an in-depth look at the organization in a small group setting. COFHED is a Haitian-led organization that fosters local education, leadership and mobilization so that rural citizens sustainably transform their communities. The agenda includes an overview of the organization’s cutting-edge participatory engagement approach and an interactive activity to help you envision what long-term sustainable change could look like.

Every aspect of COFHED’s effective approach — and remarkable results — involves building relationships of trust. The organization trusts its partner communities and know the community transformation they seek requires them to acknowledge the issues they face within and between themselves. As members of the partner communities gain awareness of their own capacity to act, lead, and make decisions that benefit their community, they learn to trust, include and rely on each other. Ultimately, members of our partner communities make the shift to trusting themselves — firmly believing in their individual capacity to act together as a collective to improve and transform their community.  COFHED’s many achievements to date can be summed up in one sentence: The people of Lougou — our first partner community — have hope, and their hope is concrete and measurable. The community’s first priority was to establish an elementary school. Today, 15 years later, local kids are returning to Lougou to live and work after receiving higher education degrees and vocational training. They are unified and share a vision and certainty of upward mobility for their community. This Talk & Tour will break down COFHED’s revolutionary approach and provide helpful tools and activities to help you consider how to envision what long-term sustainable change could look like for the people that you serve.

This MINN Talk & Tour will take place at The Wedge Table.
